Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
NSIGNIS's OSIDECK is an open-source-intelligence situational-awareness dashboard operated by NSIGNIS LTD ("NSIGNIS LTD", "NSIGNIS", "we"). This policy explains what information is processed when you use the dashboard, by whom, and the choices you have. NSIGNIS OSIDECK is designed to run client-side in your browserand/or as an Application on mobile device>: NSIGNIS LTD does not require registration, does not operate accounts, and does not run NSIGNIS LTD-controlled analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on the dashboard.
2. Location information
To localize weather, air quality, safety, traffic and other cards, the dashboard estimates your approximate location:
- IP-based lookup. On load, your browser queries one of several third-party geolocation services (get.geojs.io, ipwho.is, freeipapi.com, ipapi.co) which infer an approximate city-level position from your IP address. Your IP is processed by those providers under their own privacy policies; NSIGNIS LTD does not receive or store it.
- Browser GPS (optional). Only if every IP provider is unreachable, the browser may ask your permission for device location. If granted, coordinates are sent to a reverse-geocoding service (BigDataCloud) solely to display a place name. Denying permission simply leaves the dashboard on its default location.
- Manual city selection. City names you type into per-card location searches or the geospatial find box are sent to geocoding providers (Open-Meteo geocoding, Photon/Komoot, Nominatim/OpenStreetMap, and Google Places only where the operator has configured an API key) to resolve coordinates.
Location data is used only to parameterize data requests (e.g., "weather at these coordinates") and is not stored by NSIGNIS LTD.
3. Information stored on your device
- Currency snapshot. The Currency card may store the most recent exchange rates in your browser's localStorage (key: nsdeck_fx) so that day-over-day change indicators work when the primary rate services are unavailable. This never leaves your device; clear it at any time via your browser's site-data controls.
- Session preferences. States such as Quiet mode or per-card locations live in page memory only and reset when you close the tab.
4. NSIGNIS LTD data layers and access codes
The "Add layer" feature (NSIGNIS LTD Intelligence, NSIGNIS LTD Sensory) accepts an access code. These layers are available only to persons and organizations preauthorized by NSIGNIS LTD (see the Terms of Use). Codes you enter are held in page memory for the current session only, are masked on entry, are not written to disk by the dashboard, and are transmitted only to NSIGNIS LTD layer-activation endpoints when a layer is activated. Do not enter a code you have not been issued.
5. Third-party data providers
The dashboard assembles its picture from public data services. When a card refreshes, your browser contacts the relevant provider directly, which necessarily receives standard request metadata (your IP address, user-agent and the requested parameters). Providers currently include: Open-Meteo (weather, air quality, geocoding), USGS (earthquakes), GDELT (news, political-stability signals), NASA EONET and GDACS (natural events), OpenStreetMap/Overpass/Photon/Nominatim (maps and places), the European Central Bank via Frankfurter and the jsDelivr currency CDN and open.er-api (exchange rates), CoinGecko (crypto), adsb.fi (flight data), Wikipedia (nearby notable places), cdnjs (the Leaflet map library) and Reddit (headline feed). Each operates under its own privacy policy; NSIGNIS LTD does not control their processing.
6. Embedded maps and outbound links
Maps are rendered with Leaflet using OpenStreetMap tiles; loading tiles discloses your IP to the OSM tile infrastructure. Links that open Google Maps, ship-tracking sites (VesselFinder, MarineTraffic, MyShipTracking), flight trackers, news outlets or Wikipedia take you to third-party sites governed by their own policies.
7. What NSIGNIS LTD does not do
- No sale, rental or trading of personal information.
- No NSIGNIS LTD advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking on the dashboard.
- No collection of contents you view beyond what your own browser requests from providers.
8. Children
NSIGNIS's OSIDECK is a professional situational-awareness tool and is not directed at children under 16.
9. Your choices
- Decline the browser location prompt — the dashboard still works.
- Set any card to a manual city or Global scope instead of your area.
- Clear localStorage to remove the currency snapshot.
- Use content blockers, the dashboard degrades gracefully when providers are blocked.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the dashboard evolves; the date above reflects the current version. Questions: [email protected].
This page describes the dashboard's actual data flows as built. It is provided for transparency and does not create contractual rights beyond those in the Terms of Use.
